For Candidates

There are two different programs in the Department of Tourism Management, one in Turkish and one in English (100%). Admission to both programs is on the equal weighted (EA) score type of the university exam.
 
English Preparatory Education:
 
For the students enrolled in the Turkish program, 1-year English preparatory program in the first year of registration is optional. Students who do not want to take English preparatory education directly enroll in the first year.
 
For the Tourism Management English (100%) program, 1 year of English preparatory education is obligatory. Students who have certification indicating their English is at the level determined by our university in one of the national and/or international foreign language exams or who are successful in the language proficiency exam held by our university at the beginning of the academic year can directly enroll in the first class.
 
Students who successfully complete English preparatory education start the program by registering courses in the following academic year. Students who fail in preparatory education for consecutive 2 years have options to enroll in Tourism Management Turkish program in our Faculty or to, if they wish, be placed centrally in one of the programs whose language of instruction is Turkish. To be able to be placed in other programs (2nd option), their score of university exam for the year they registered at our university MUST be not lower than the base score required for the program they want to enroll in.
 
Purpose of Tourism Management Department:
 
Providing scientific and quality education, Department of Tourism Management aims to nurture students with technical and social qualifications required by the sector. The education period of the program is four (4) years, excluding the preparatory class. The program covers 240 graduation credits and to complete the program, a minimum of 40 working days of industry internship is a MUST. The Department of Tourism Management aims to qualify the students to  
  • protect and defend national and international values,
  • have advanced analytical thinking and problem-solving skills,
  • have a good command of (at least 2) foreign languages,
  • have a good command of business practices,
  • have principal values ​​such as tolerance, courtesy, respect and honesty.
 
Besides continuing the master and the doctoral education, our graduates have opportunities to build their career in all areas of service sector in general, and particularly,
 
  1. in various units of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism,
  2. in national and international tourism organizations (TÜRSAB, TUREB, UNWTO, IH-RA etc.),
  3. in national and international accommodation businesses,
  4. in tour operators and travel agencies,
  5. in food and beverage businesses,
  6. in airlines and airport companies,
  7. in cruise ship, yacht and marina facilities.
